DMFI urged Democratic members to sign on and facilitated additional signatories

Today, Democratic Majority for Israel applauded House Democrats who signed a bipartisan letter to Secretary of State Blinken backing the Biden Administration’s call for Hamas to surrender and supports the Administration’s opposition to an immediate, permanent ceasefire that would leave Hamas in control of Gaza, of its weapons, and of the hostages.

“We applaud the House Democrats demanding Hamas end the conflict in Gaza — and stop the suffering of the Palestinians it purports to care about — by surrendering their leaders, their weapons, and the hostages they still hold captive, which would bring an immediate end to Israeli military action.” said DMFI President and CEO Mark Mellman. “We called for Hamas’ unconditional surrender some months ago and have been heartened to hear Secretary Blinken, National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, and Democrats in Congress back the same approach.”

The bipartisan letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken was spearheaded by Democratic Representatives Brad Schneider and Kathy Manning and signed by 25 House Democrats.

DMFI urged members to sign on to the letter and conducted outreach to congressional offices making clear that Americans do not support an end to this conflict that leaves Hamas in control of Gaza or hostages still in their hands.
