Statement from DMFI Board Co-Chairs Ann Lewis and Todd Richman on Netanyahu’s Alliance with Racist, Far-Right Faction Ahead of Israeli Elections
“It’s outrageous that Prime Minister Netanyahu has once again aligned his Likud party with Otzma Yehudit, an extremist party made up of disciples of the late Meir Kahane. Otzma Yehudit’s racist beliefs are completely at odds with the values of the State of Israel and should have no place in Israeli institutions. It would be shameful if these extremists entered Israel’s parliament. We have faith that Israeli voters will reject this representation in their democracy."
“We welcome the Biden Administration’s decision to rejoin the United Nations Human Rights Council as an observer where it can help promote human rights around the world. At the same time, we also recognize that the UNHRC is in serious need of reform. It counts among its membership countries with the most appalling human rights records in the world and operates with an obsessive anti-Israel bias."
