Mark Mellman, President and CEO of Democratic Majority for Israel issued the following statement today regarding President Trump’s emergency declaration at the southern border:
“In declaring a national emergency when none exists, to fund a wall that two-thirds of Americans and a majority of Congress have rejected, President Trump has gone outside the bounds of the law to pursue a personal ambition.
“By taking billions of dollars from high priority military projects to fund his wall, and undermining the separation of powers fundamental to our government, the President is making our country weaker, not stronger.
“We applaud Congressional Democrats for defending our system of checks and balances, through the courts, if necessary.”
