Washington, D.C. — This weekend the California Democratic Party convened for a virtual convention where they passed a pro-Israel platform despite the attempts of a small number of activists to insert divisive and one-sided language hostile to Israel.

“We’re thrilled that California’s Democratic Party is continuing its proud, pro-Israel tradition by passing this comprehensive platform that supports a two-state solution and affirms that Israelis and Palestinians deserve security, dignity, independence, and the right to self-determination,” said Mark Mellman, president and CEO of Democratic Majority for Israel. “Like Democrats nationally at our 2020 convention, California Democratic Party leaders and delegates again rejected an attempt to insert a divisive anti-Israel amendment.”

“Victories like this demonstrate both the critical need for Democratic Majority for Israel and the strong support for Israel among Democrats,” Mellman added.

To help ensure the California Democratic Party’s platform remained pro-Israel, DMFI was proud to work with an outstanding group of partners including: The California Legislative Jewish Caucus, California Young Democrats Jewish Caucus, Democrats for Israel-California and its six chapters, Progressive Zionists of California, ADL Orange County/Long Beach, Jewish Federation and Family Services of Orange County, American Jewish Committee, Democrats for Peace in the Middle East, Israel on Campus Coalition, JIMENA, StandWithUs, A Wider Bridge, Zioness, as well as with party leaders, activists and elected officials.
