Following an unprecedented attack by Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in Israel, Democratic Majority for Israel Board Co-Chairs Ann Lewis and Todd Richman released the following statement:
“This morning, we awoke to horrifying videos and images out of Israel showing dozens of Hamas terrorists infiltrating and occupying several Israeli towns near Gaza, brutally killing or kidnapping Israeli civilians and launching a barrage of missiles into Israel’s cities in a surprise early morning attack.
“Let us be clear: Israel has a duty and an unquestionable right to defend itself from this brutal attack. We are grateful for the Biden-Harris administration’s strong statements of support, and we call upon America’s leaders in Congress and across the country to join us in denouncing these acts of aggression and to unequivocally support Israel’s inherent right to self-defense in the face of such grave threats to its security and sovereignty.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those who have tragically had their lives cut short in these heinous attacks or have family members now held hostage by murderous terrorists. The pain and suffering inflicted upon the people of Israel this morning is immeasurable, and we extend our deepest condolences to those who are mourning for their loved ones or fearing for their safety.
“The United States stands firmly with Israel at this dangerous time, now and in the days to come.”
