Washington, D.C. (September 9, 2026) — Democratic Majority for Israel (DMFI), an organization committed to supporting the U.S.-Israel relationship within the Democratic Party, today announced the election of Michael Horowitz, David Kramer, Jeffrey Stewart, Jerry Yanowitz, and Kinney Zalesne to its board of directors.
“Michael, David, Jeffrey, Jerry, and Kinney bring deep experience in Democratic politics, public affairs, and Jewish communal leadership, along with a strong commitment to the U.S.-Israel alliance,” said Kathy Manning, Chair of DMFI’s board of directors. “Their leadership and counsel will strengthen DMFI’s work at this critical moment for the Democratic Party and the U.S.-Israel relationship.”

Michael Horowitz has more than 45 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate. As a founding partner of The Selective Group, he helped grow the company into Michigan’s second-largest homebuilder and developer. Horowitz is also an active philanthropist and Jewish communal leader who has supported or held leadership roles with synagogues and organizations including the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, the Utah Jewish Federation, the Jewish Agency for Israel, and the Anti-Defamation League. He has also participated in numerous Israel-focused charitable and people-to-people initiatives.
David Kramer is a principal of Highstreet ProLaw Group, formerly Gemini Risk Partners. He is a past president of Hebrew Free Loan of Metropolitan Detroit and serves on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Detroit, the Detroit Jewish News Foundation, and the Zekelman Holocaust Center. Kramer has chaired several campaign finance committees and held volunteer leadership roles with Democratic campaigns, including Gretchen Whitmer for Governor, Elissa Slotkin for Senate, and Haley Stevens for Senate. He is a recipient of the Jewish Federation of Detroit’s Wetsman Young Leadership Award, was named to Crain’s Detroit Business Forty Under Forty, and received the Orchards Children’s Services Individual Award.
Jeffrey Stewart is the Founder and President of Walnut Hill Advisors, counseling CEOs, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders at the intersection of business, politics, and civic engagement. Jeff began his career as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York and Finance Director for Congressman Chuck Schumer’s historic first U.S. Senate campaign. Later, he held senior leadership positions at Loews Hotels & Co.; helped establish the U.S. Travel Association; and played key roles in New York City’s post-9/11 tourism recovery and the successful effort to bring Super Bowl XLVIII to the New York metropolitan area. Jeff is Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University, and serves on the Boards of Directors of NYC Tourism + Conventions and the Association for a Better New York.
Jerry Yanowitz spent more than 30 years in senior government-relations positions in the telecommunications industry, including roles with the California Cable and Telecommunications Association and the National Cable and Telecommunications Association, advocating before Congress, the Federal Communications Commission, and other federal agencies. Earlier in his career, he worked for California Assembly Speaker Leo McCarthy on policy analysis, speechwriting, and campaigns. Yanowitz currently serves on the boards of the Bay Area Jewish Community Relations Council, J. Weekly, Bay Area Jewish Action, and the Contra Costa Jewish Community Center, and previously held leadership roles with Jewish Federations of North America, the East Bay Jewish Federation, and the Jewish Community Federation and Endowment Fund. He is a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs, a Wexner Heritage Program alumnus, and a graduate of Antioch College.
Kinney Zalesne ran for the Democratic nomination for D.C. Delegate to Congress in 2026. Previously, she was a Deputy National Finance Chair at the Democratic National Committee and National Co-Chair of Women for Kamala Harris. Earlier in her career, she co-led Corporate Strategy at Microsoft, served as Executive Vice President for the U.S. at Hillel, was Counsel to Attorney General Janet Reno at the U.S. Department of Justice, and served as a White House Fellow with Vice President Al Gore. Kinney is also the best-selling co-author of Microtrends: The Small Forces Behind Tomorrow’s Big Changes and the regular Wall Street Journal column of the same name. She was Chair of Washington, D.C.’s only Jewish Day School and now serves on the boards of D.C.’s Jewish Community Relations Council and of the U.S. affiliate of the National Library of Israel.
