Following the State of the Union Address, Democratic Majority for Israel President & CEO Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“Tonight, President Biden outlined a hopeful vision for America in a fiery speech underscoring his commitment to defending America’s values and his promise to continue fighting for the American people, democracy, and for freedom. He restated his unwavering support for the U.S.-Israel relationship, emphasizing that Israel has a right to go after Hamas after the October 7th attacks when the terrorist group launched a brutal, unprovoked attack against Israel, slaughtering 1,200 Israelis, injuring over 4,500, raping an untold number, burning babies, kidnapping over 240 hostages, and firing over 10,500 rockets at Israeli civilians.
“He reiterated that Hamas could end the war today by ‘releasing the hostages, laying down arms, and surrendering those responsible for October 7th.’
“If he is re-elected, Donald Trump will go even further to undermine democracy and strip American women of their freedom to make decisions about their own bodies.
“We are deeply appreciative of President Biden’s leadership and the moral clarity of his administration.”
