Today, DMFI President and CEO Brian Romick made the following statement:

“As the United States and Saudi Arabia renew and deepen engagement, DMFI believes that any substantial upgrade in the U.S.–Saudi relationship—including access to advanced U.S. defense systems—must be tied to meaningful, measurable progress toward Saudi-Israeli normalization. The Abraham Accords remain a landmark diplomatic achievement. Expanding them—especially by advancing Saudi-Israeli normalization—must be central to U.S. policy. A historic breakthrough between these two nations remains the single most powerful step the region can take toward long-term peace, security, and prosperity. While the rhetorical support by Saudi Arabia for the Abraham Accords is welcome, there have yet to be any firm commitments toward that goal. It is now incumbent on the Trump Administration to use our leverage with Saudi Arabia to make real progress toward normalization.

“Congress has a critical oversight role. It must continue to ensure Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge is preserved, particularly regarding potential F-35 or other advanced weapons sales to Saudi Arabia. Protecting Israel’s security is both U.S. law and vital to our national interests. In addition, Congress must provide adequate oversight regarding Saudi Arabia’s relationship with China and whether there will be risks to advanced U.S. systems in Saudi Arabia, as some in the Pentagon have warned. Lastly, Congress must also remain vigilant about the Trump family’s longstanding financial and business ties to Saudi Arabia, ensuring that decisions about U.S.-Saudi cooperation are driven solely by American national security interests—not by private financial gain or political gain.”
