Democratic Majority for Israel President & CEO Brian Romick released the following statement today in reaction to the deeply antisemitic resignation letter submitted by Joe Kent, outgoing Director of the National Counterterrorism Center:

“There is insidious antisemitism permeating the Trump Administration, and today’s letter showed why DMFI opposed Joe Kent from the start: he traffics in conspiracy theories and was unfit for any government position. It is deeply alarming that a man holding one of the most sensitive national security positions in the United States government harbors these antisemitic views. You can disagree with the war in Iran without resorting to antisemitism like Joe Kent.

“Let’s be direct: It was President Trump who made the decision to use military force against Iran. Claiming otherwise is both misleading and irresponsible. Kent is falsely claiming that Jewish Americans and the Jewish state secretly control U.S. foreign policy. In his letter, Kent traffics in some of the oldest and most dangerous antisemitic tropes in existence. His letter was not about policy disagreements; it was about ugly antisemitic conspiracy theories. These conspiracy theories build on his well-known rejection of the 2020 election, saying January 6th was a deep state plot, hiring a Proud Boy, and more.

“Beyond Kent, it’s worth asking: what other officials in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) hold the same beliefs?”
