Democratic Majority for Israel today announced the launch of its new Substack, a dedicated platform for analysis, commentary, and briefings on the issues shaping the Democratic Party, the U.S.-Israel relationship and antisemitism.

DMFI’s Substack will offer perspectives and commentary from President & CEO Brian Romick, insights from former Congresswoman and DMFI Board Chair Kathy Manning, analysis from Chief Policy Officer Rachel Bombach, and contributions from policy experts and leading voices across the Democratic and foreign policy communities.

The Substack debuts with an original essay by Kathy Manning titled, “We Don’t Get to Look Away,” examining the recent Michigan Democratic Party convention and its broader implications for the party.

In the piece, Manning — who grew up in Michigan — warns that the conduct on display at the convention reflects a deeper and more consequential challenge for Democrats. “The consequences of this behavior are not theoretical,” she writes. “It is a threat to the future of our party and our country. It is driving people away from the Democratic Party.”

Manning details what she describes as a pattern of escalating rhetoric and conduct, including the targeting of Jewish Democrats and the normalization of behavior that undermines core party values. She draws a direct connection between that environment and a broader climate of rising antisemitism, noting that “there is a through line… between increasingly aggressive, dehumanizing rhetoric and the environment in which acts like this become more likely.” She also praises Democrats Kristen McDonald Rivet and Elissa Slotkin for doing what more elected officials should do – calling it out.
