Following President Biden’s first State of the Union speech before Congress tonight, Democratic Majority for Israel President and CEO Mark Mellman issued the following statement:
“During his first 13 months in office, President Biden has achieved what many considered impossible — delivering for the American people record job growth and economic expansion, passing the American Rescue Plan and the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure law, nominating the first Black woman to the Supreme Court, and administering more than 200 million COVID-19 vaccinations. While this administration has achieved a great deal in a short time, there is still much work to do. We were heartened to hear President Biden’s four-point plan to tackle higher costs, including increasing American-made products, reducing expenses for families, promoting competition, and eliminating barriers to good-paying jobs. These are all vital to fighting inflation.
“We’re proud President Biden demonstrated again tonight his deep commitment to our Democratic values here in the United States — as well as the democratic values we share with our allies around the world. His efforts to rebuild and strengthen our alliances following four years of antagonism recently culminated in the united response to Russia’s unprovoked aggression in Ukraine. Thanks to President Biden and his administration, our allies once again recognize the United States as a strong leader and reliable partner. As we enter the next phases of the pandemic, the Russian invasion, and our economic recovery, we are grateful for President Biden’s leadership at home and on the world stage.”
