Following the news that the United States has struck Iran’s nuclear facilities, Brian Romick, President and CEO of Democratic Majority for Israel, made the following statement:

“Ending the Iranian nuclear program unequivocally makes the world a safer place. A nuclear-armed Iran is a direct threat to regional security, world peace, and a grave national security threat to the United States of America. Unfortunately, Iran was unwilling to give up its nuclear program through diplomatic negotiations across three different administrations, so the United States was left with no choice but to take decisive military action.

“Iran is a sponsor of terrorism, has American blood on its hands, and is a country that is constantly threatening to annihilate Israel, both directly and through their proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah.

“Israel has done important work to degrade Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure, weakening its military leadership and ballistic missiles program, but the only sensible end to this conflict is ending Iran’s enrichment capability.

“We urge the Trump administration to continue to stand with our friend and ally, Israel. That includes continuing to replenish interceptors and other military equipment that has been depleted from Iran’s attacks as well as providing political and diplomatic support.

“In closing, we join all Americans in praying for the safety of our troops in the region.
