Today, Democratic Majority for Israel President and CEO Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“We applaud President Biden for his decision to send a new billion-dollar arms package to Israel. This decision yet again gives concrete expression to President Biden’s ‘ironclad’ commitment to Israel’s security.
“Israel faces serious, well-armed enemies including Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran, who are committed to the destruction of the Jewish state. The weapons in this package themselves, as well as the American commitment to Israel underlined by the President’s decision, will help keep the peace by deterring these terrorist armies from attacking Israel.
“In just the past few days, the Biden Administration has reiterated the need for Israel to defeat Hamas, rejected out-of-hand false claims of genocide in Gaza, and provided support for Israel’s future security. Biden was the first president to visit Israel in wartime and he’s protecting Israel at the UN. The President mobilized a coalition to directly defend Israel against an Iranian attack and led the effort to pass a national security supplemental that ensures Israel’s qualitative military edge for years to come.
“We deeply appreciate President Biden’s leadership and his ironclad support for Israel.”
