Today, following passage of the draft Democratic Party platform by the DNC Platform Committee, and its recommendation for approval by the 2024 convention delegates, Democratic Majority for Israel President & CEO Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“Our party’s 2024 platform language on Israel is founded on the strongly pro-Israel words, deeds, and policies of the Biden-Harris administration. It emphasizes the need to defeat Hamas, further integrate Israel into the region, and urgently bring the hostages home. Additionally, it echoes key attributes of the 2020 platform, including reiterating the goal of a two-state solution, opposition to Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS), and the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
“This platform proudly continues the Democratic Party’s pro-Israel legacy that dates back to Harry Truman’s official recognition of the modern State of Israel. We’re confident that those Democrats running on it will earn the votes of a decisive majority of Americans.”
