Today, Democratic Majority for Israel Board Co-Chairs Ann Lewis and Todd Richman issued the following statement after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud Party made a vote sharing agreement with the far-right party Otzma Yehudit (“Jewish Power”):
“It’s outrageous that Prime Minister Netanyahu has once again aligned his Likud party with Otzma Yehudit, an extremist party made up of disciples of the late Meir Kahane.
“Otzma Yehudit’s racist beliefs are completely at odds with the values of the State of Israel and should have no place in Israeli institutions. It would be shameful if these extremists entered Israel’s parliament.
“We have faith that Israeli voters will reject this representation in their democracy.”
