Today, Democratic Majority for Israel President and CEO Brian Romick made the following statement:
“Democratic voters and most Americans agree on the fundamentals: Iran is the world’s leading state sponsor of terrorism and must never obtain a nuclear weapon. The House of Representatives just voted with overwhelming bipartisan support to reaffirm that Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism. For decades, the Iranian regime has threatened U.S. interests and allies, destabilized the region, supported terrorist proxies, and brutalized its own people. Iran has killed Americans and repeatedly attacked Israel and other partners. Those threats are real and they cannot be ignored. Ending Iran’s nuclear threat, ballistic missile program, and ability to sponsor terrorism will unequivocally make the world safer.
“Yet as U.S. military action expands, the Administration has failed to present a clear strategy for what comes next. Americans and our troops deserve clarity, consistency, and a clear endgame. Instead, they’ve seen confusion across the Administration. The President should explain the objectives of U.S. military operations in Iran, outline plans to prevent escalation and protect American personnel and citizens overseas, and define the criteria for success and eventual drawdown. Congress and the American people deserve nothing less.”
