In response to the killing of an Islamic Jihad commander and ensuing indiscriminate rocket fire from Gaza, Democratic Majority for Israel President and CEO Mark Mellman today issued the following statement:
“Last night, in a surgical strike, Israel killed the commander of a terrorist group who was responsible for scores of terrorists acts and was about to launch more. Fortunately, civilians were not killed in the airstrike, which prevented imminent terrorist attacks.
“Since then, terrorists have fired some 150 rockets at Israeli civilians from Gaza. As a result, one million Israeli adults and children are in bomb shelters, as schools and workplaces closed.
“All people of good will should join in publicly condemning these attacks and supporting Israel’s right to defend itself.”
