Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech paid tribute to some of the best of America’s legacy and descended to the worst, deliberately divisive rhetoric. We appreciate the honor paid to combating anti-Semitism, the Holocaust victims who survived, and the American troops who opened the camps, as well as the courageous police officer who stopped the Tree of Life tragedy.
But as usual, this President abused his platform to boast, while pursuing policies that harm working people, damage the environment, and endanger our country’s future. We know we can do better; we can achieve real immigration reform, not posture about walls. We can expand access to affordable health care for every family. We can protect American lives by reducing gun violence.
Democrats will work together to oppose Trump policies that damage our nation and erode America’s global leadership.
