Recently the Arab League released a historic statement condemning Hamas’s October 7th attack and called for Hamas’s disarmament and removal from power in Gaza. While there is much we disagree with in the statement, we do believe that this breakthrough presents a rare and urgent opportunity to ensure Israel’s security and create a brighter future for innocent Palestinians free from Hamas through American leadership.
Representatives Auchincloss (MA-04), Kennedy (NY-26), Landsman (OH-1), and Wasserman Schultz (FL-25), are circulating a vital letter urging Secretary of State Rubio to seize on a historic diplomatic breakthrough.
This is a rare moment of opportunity, and the United States must lead. The letter calls on Secretary Rubio and the Trump administration to:
- Secure the immediate and unconditional release of all Israeli hostages held by Hamas.
- Ensure Hamas is permanently removed from power in Gaza.
- Work with regional and international partners to de-escalate the conflict and lay the foundation for reconstruction, reform, and peacebuilding.
