Following the passage of a House resolution expressing America’s support for the State of Israel, Democratic Majority for Israel President & CEO Mark Mellman released the following statement:

“On the eve of Israeli President Isaac Herzog’s historic address to a joint session of Congress, we applaud the overwhelming majority of House Democrats for voting in favor of a resolution affirming that Israel is not a ‘racist or apartheid’ state, condemning antisemitism and xenophobia, and expressing support for the U.S.-Israel relationship.

“DMFI is dedicated to ensuring the Democratic Party remains pro-Israel and this vote is a clear signal that our party remains exactly that—pro-Israel. We’re pleased that 92% of House Democrats voted to support Israel.

“Israel is a vibrant, multiracial, multi-religious democracy in which more than 20% of the population is Arab with equal rights and the majority of its Jewish population has roots in the Middle East, North Africa, and Ethiopia.

“The House of Representatives today sent a powerful message that our country, and the vast majority of Democrats, stand in support of Israel and of a strong U.S.-Israel alliance.”
