Today, following the Senate vote on a foreign aid package that includes robust assistance to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, as well as humanitarian assistance to Palestinians, Democratic Majority for Israel President and CEO Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“We congratulate the Senate, led by Majority Leader Schumer, for passing this vital aid package that will include billions in funding for Israel, Ukraine and Taiwan, as well as humanitarian aid for Palestinians and Ukrainian civilians.
“This aid package will strengthen our national security and send a clear bipartisan message of American resolve to support our allies.
“The aid to Israel comes at a critical time as it seeks to disarm and dismantle Hamas while it defends itself from Iranian proxies throughout the region.
“We were deeply disappointed that Donald Trump and a large number of Republican senators opposed this assistance to Israel. Republicans cannot claim the title ‘pro-Israel’ while opposing this much needed assistance in the midst of a war started and sustained by Hamas.
“Now, the House of Representatives has the responsibility to take up the bill and get it to President Biden’s desk.”
