Washington, D.C. (April 7, 2022) — Following the Senate’s confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court today, Democratic Majority for Israel President Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“It’s a historic day for our nation. The Senate has validated what Ketanji Brown Jackson proved time and again throughout her exceptional career and during her confirmation hearings: she is an extraordinary jurist committed to fairness and equal justice under the law.
“We congratulate Judge Brown Jackson on her achievement. She’ll undoubtedly continue Justice Stephen Breyer’s legacy of justice, fairness, and equality for every American under the law.
“As she demonstrated before the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, she possesses a brilliant legal mind and is firmly committed to following the facts of the law. Despite facing ugly attacks by Republicans during her confirmation hearings, Judge Brown Jackson showed resilience and grace — a testament to her character.
“When sworn in, Judge Brown Jackson will become the first Black woman and the first former federal public defender to ever serve on the United States Supreme Court. We look forward to watching her serve on the Court for many, many years to come.”
