Today, Democratic Majority for Israel’s Board, key supporters, and staff met with Israeli Foreign Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Yair Lapid during his visit to Washington.
The foreign minister stressed the importance of a strong U.S.-Israel relationship that benefits both countries and emphasized his gratitude for the warm reception he received in Washington from the vice president, the secretary of state, other Biden administration officials, and the Congressional leadership.
He reiterated that Iran must never obtain a nuclear weapon, praised the Abraham Accords which normalized relations between Israel and Arab states as a historic achievement, welcomed the Biden administration’s support for expanding and strengthening these diplomatic breakthroughs, and expressed gratitude for the overwhelming bipartisan vote in the House, with the full support of the president, to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome antimissile system.
In the foreign minister’s view, these successes underlined the importance of continuing the work required to maintain bipartisan support for Israel in the U.S.
Mr. Lapid thanked DMFI’s leadership for the vitally important work they are doing across the country to ensure support for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship by Democrats.
DMFI was proud to be the first American organization with whom the foreign minister met after the new Israeli Government was formed, and DMFI’s leadership was thrilled to be able to meet Minister Lapid in person and express their thanks for the strong, effective leadership he is providing.
