Following the House vote to remove Representative Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Democratic Majority for Israel President and CEO Mark Mellman released the following statement:
“Like many Democrats, DMFI has rightly condemned past anti-Israel and antisemitic statements by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. And, we find her recent defense for using antisemitic tropes — claiming ignorance — disingenuous. However, by restoring Representatives Paul Gosar and Marjorie Taylor Greene to committees, despite their support for white nationalism and antisemitic conspiracy theories; by promoting Representative Thomas Massie, one of the strongest anti-Israel voices in Congress; and by refusing to eject compulsive liar and fraudster George Santos, Speaker McCarthy has demonstrated that his action against Congresswoman Omar is simply unprincipled, self-serving political hypocrisy.”
