Democratic Majority for Israel’s CEO and President Mark Mellman issued the following statement today following the passage of the House Resolution condemning antisemitism and other forms of hate:

“We are pleased that the Democratic controlled House today passed a resolution condemning various forms of hate, including bigotry against Muslims, and antisemitism. House Democrats were unanimous in supporting the resolution. The House specifically defined accusations of dual loyalty as anti-Semitism. This follows a statement on February 11th by the full, united Democratic Leadership of the House condemning antisemitic comments made by Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, and reaffirming their support for a strong U.S.-Israel relationship.

“These unprecedented actions, and many others, clearly demonstrate that the overwhelming majority of Democrats in Congress support the U.S.-Israel relationship.

We are grateful for these expressions of support and deeply appreciate the efforts of the Speaker, the Majority Leader and other members of the House Democratic leadership team in bringing about these results.

It should go without saying, but our party would benefit greatly if the tiny number of Members who are prone to making antisemitic statements would cease doing so. If they intend to criticize Israeli government policies, that debate should take place in a civil manner worthy of the United States Congress.”
