Democratic Majority for Israel’s CEO and President Mark Mellman issued the following statement today on behalf of Democratic Majority for Israel:
“Democratic Majority for Israel condemns the deadly and unprovoked rocket attacks on Israeli civilians launched over the last two days from Gaza. We mourn the loss of innocent life in Israel and Gaza and express our deepest condolences to the victims and their families.
“Having fired over 600 rockets at Israel in the last couple of days, Hamas, the terrorist group backed by Iran which controls Gaza, along with Islamic Jihad—another terrorist organization backed by Iran—bear full responsibility for the casualties on both sides. Using hospitals, schools and other civilian sites in Gaza as shields, these terrorists show their callous disregard for Israeli and Palestinian lives.
“This is the time for political leaders in both parties to express solidarity with Israel, and their commitment to strengthening the U.S. – Israel relationship. We urge all of the Democratic presidential candidates to condemn these terror attacks and reaffirm their support of Israel’s right to defend itself.”
