Harriet P. Schleifer is a retired attorney whose focus was education law and is a prominent leader in the American Jewish community. She has held leadership roles at the American Jewish Committee, Jewish Museum in New York, UJA-Federation of New York, Washington Institute for Near East Policy, Jewish Broadcasting Service (JBS), Plaza Jewish Community Chapel, Boundless Israel, her synagogue, and is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Israel Democracy Institute. Harriet is also a member of the Executive Committee of Cornell University and of Chapel Haven Schleifer Center. She also served two years as Chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. Notably, Harriet was Chair on Oct. 7 and in the aftermath. She is widely recognized for her advocacy on behalf of Jews worldwide, her commitment to Israel’s security, and her passion for improving quality of life for people with disabilities.
